Cape May County is the location of many of New Jersey’s premier seashore destinations. Historic Cape May City, the Wildwoods with their famous boardwalk, Avalon and Stone Harbor are afew of the many Atlantic Coast communities that have made Cape May County aworld-class tourist destination. The Cape May Zoo has one of the best zoologic exhibits inthe State,and the Cape May-Lewes Ferry provides visitors with analternative transportation route to the County that is unique and avoids some of the seasonal traffic issues. The County also has an outstanding food-based economy. The fishing and oystering industries have been historic segments of the County’s economy for years. More recently,many farm markets,wineries,vineyards, breweries, and distilleries have made their homes in the County.

More than 300 years of history have generated anumber of nationally recognized historic sites including many of the Victorian homes and structures in Cape May City, the Cape May lighthouse, the Harriet Tubman Museum and ts Underground Railroad heritage, Cold Spring Village,the military history associated with the Cape May Naval Air and the Sindia Museum in Ocean City, the George Boyer Museum inWildwood and the Sam Azeez Museum inWoodbine.
